Painting Exhibition Portraits of the Universe

On Friday, August 6, 2010, at 19.00 hours, you are kindly invited to attend the opening of the painting exhibition Portreti vesolja (Portraits of the Universe) by Jožica Žigon. The opening will take place at the Grand Hotel Portorož, where her works will be on display until September 6, 2010. The event will be accompanied by the music group Excellent Choice and excellent wines produced by the wine cellar Montis.

Jožica Žigon from Lokavec near Ajdovščina dedicated her mature years to painting and has been carefully nourishing this hobby for the last ten years.

Photographs of the universe have always attracted her attention, and it was one of her sons who is a physicist and astronomer who encouraged her to present the beauty of the universe on the canvas.

When she decided to paint motifs of very distant objects (galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, etc.) with oil on canvas of larger formats, she encountered new challenges. The position of the motif, the position of the colour scheme and detailed observation of the iridescence of colour shades and realization itself demanded her to study the motifs and the chosen painting style.
