Last weekend, the Avditorij Portorož hosted the best Dalmatian men’s choirs – dalmatinske klape. They were joined by a special guest, the legendary Croatian singer Meri Cetinić. Ms Cetinić stayed at Grand Hotel Portorož which truly impressed her: “I’m very satisfied with the room, the food, with everything in fact. This is my first stay here, and I’d like to come back.”
The singer, who is often described as “the Voice that echoes”, comes from Split, Croatia. She has published 11 solo albums and 3 compilations, as well as received a large number of acknowledgements and awards:
- In 1981 and 1982: the title “the Best Singer” of the whole former Yugoslavia.
- In 1983: the “Golden Bird” (Zlata ptica) award for a million of sold records.
- In 1984: the album of the year award.
- In 1988: the popular music award.
- In 2002: the Porin award for the best popular music album.
- In 2007: the “Status 2007” award by the Croatian Music Union for an overall contribution to Croatian music.
